The short lines hype is growing and becoming recognised as a sub-discipline of the Big Air movement – it has even entered as a separate discipline in the last stop of the BAKL tour in Cape Town. For those who want to feel the sensation of a short lines session for the first time, or those who want to make that jaw-dropping mega loop and send the kite super low, we have lined up a special two-day clinic on mastering the art of short lines kiting.
We will be joined by the local young and talented short lines master (and TheKiteMag cover star!) Camdyn Kellett. Over the two days Camdyn will take you through the essential theory and techniques behind riding with short lines before hitting the water in the iconic Blouberg beach.
For this clinic we have set a wind window starting on 26 January to 2 February. Depending on the forecast, we will announce the two dates of coaching closer to the time.
Giel has burst onto the Big Air scene and is now one of the big players in the Big Air Kite League and was on fire for the KOTA earlier this year. Since then he has claimed the first ever Double Megaloop – one of the biggest steps forward in the world of kiteboarding in the last decade, and he continues to drive the Big Air side of the sport forwards at a blistering pace.
Giel has been coaching for 7 years, he has taught all levels of riding and his incredible passion for the sport shines through whoever he is working with.
He loves seeing riders progress and believes that with commitment and hard work anything is achievable. Giel and Tarifa are truly the ultimate combination for any aspiring twin tip rider!
This day is the official arrival day and you can kite freely in on the spots. In the evening we get together and have a BBQ at the tropical kite villa and will meet Giel and the hosts. There we will set your goals for the week and explain any further details.
Each day, Breakfast will be served from 9-11h and you can choose if you join some yoga or physical preparation. After this we make a plan for the day according to the conditions and hit the beach. Mostly we have lunch at the beach and kite as long as the sun is up. Or, we have a sunset drink at one of the beach bars. For the evenings, beside some video analysis, we will get to go together to some Tarifa’s incredbible restaurants.
Departure day. After a awesome week, this day is depending on your departure time, a free kite day or you make your way home.
