Calling all kitesurfers keen to take their riding skills to the next level during an action packed long weekend clinic, while enjoying a luxurious stay and the breath-taking scenery of the Cornish coast. All this in the company of no other but one of kitesurfing most prominent UK ambassadors – Tom Court.
Suited towards independent riders who want to progress, this intensive clinic will elevate your skills to the next level, regardless if you are keen to lock in a new freestyle trick, improve your freeride technique or add a few meters to your personal Woo/Surf record.
Tom is an incredible coach with years of kiting and coaching experience in every discipline, and with an incredible amount of experience and knowledge of UK kite conditions. He will work with you personally on the water, followed by video analysis and debrief in the evenings to help you make the most of your time in the clinic.
For this clinic we will be staying in a luxurious villa set in an acre of private landscaped garden, located 500m from the perfection of Watergate Bay, on the North Coast of Cornwall, just a couple of miles from Newquay.
Winner of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour in 2016, and runner up on two other occasions, Matchu epitomizes the Cape Verdean vibe, both on and off the water. His free-flowing surf style is the envy of most wave riders, and he combines power and finesse with a style that is almost unparalleled in the sport. His strapless freestyle also reflects the many many hours of practice that he has put in at his local Kite Beach on the isle of Sal. Pure power and flawless technique. For this clinic Matchu will be there to use his knowledge to improve your riding – he is a highly experienced coach and has taught from beginner through to advanced level riding. Off the water and Matchu has a well-deserved reputation as one of the friendliest and easiest going kitesurfers you are ever likely to meet… His love for the sport and for life is truly infectious!
Arrival day. We will meet you from your transfer at the accommodation – an inclusive 4 star hotel. You will have a chance to meet the rest of the group, and of course to meet Matchu. Matchu will spend some time with you to check out what you would like to get from the coaching and to set you some goals for the week.
If you arrive in the morning or midday, you can go for some free kiting or chill out.
This is Mauritius! So we will be mainly led by the conditions and by what the group would like to do. Over the course of the week we will ride many different waves and head to different spots on the island, such as Bel Ombre and Pointe d’Esny, and maybe others. Matchu has been traveling to Mauritius and training here for many years, so you can be sure that he will get you to the best places on the best days.
The general routine is that each day will start with an optional warm up/yoga session, followed by a dip in the pool and a comprehensive breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit and local produce.
After breakfast we will have a morning briefing and discuss the daily schedule and decide on the spots to ride that day. Some mornings before hitting the beach Matchu will have some land-based coaching sessions looking at elements such as wave riding technique, how to read the conditions, choosing the right gear and strapless essentials.
From then we head out and go for our first session. We will then eat lunch at the hotel, before hitting the water in the afternoon. There will be two coaches on the clinic, so some afternoons Matchu will work with individuals or smaller groups to help them to achieve their goals for the week.
In the evenings we will have a dinner at the hotel and we relive the day and share stories of the epic waves we scored! On some evenings we can also head to local restaurants to sample the great food that Mauritius has to offer.

Depending on your departure time, you may have some free kite time before we get you to the airport.
The world class breaks of Le Morne need no introduction. If you have ever opened a kiting magazine, or checked over a clip on Instagram, then you will have seen the jewel in Le Morne’s crown: One Eye. Don’t tell anyone, but this insane looking wave is actually relatively easy to ride, due to the wind direction and the speed at which it breaks. With the right tuition, you can expect to be scoring the waves of your life by the end of the clinic…
Bel Ombre is a peaceful lagoon that offers plenty of space to work on your strapless freestyle. It’s a refreshing option after the more intense environment of Le Morne so you can stay on the inside and work on your moves and ride with the turtles or – if you want more adrenaline-filled fun – head out through the reef pass to the wave which held the 2019 GKA Wave contest and offered some insane conditions for the pros.
Pointe d’Esny is also know as Paradise Beach and if you want the true ‘tropical beach’ experience then there is nowhere better. It has the whitest sand, and some of the most incredible coral on the whole island.
There are some wave options outside of the reef, but this is primarily a place to have your mind blown by the sheer beauty of the spot and to tick another trick off your strapless freestyle wish list!
