If you want to improve your waveriding and score sessions that will sit in your memories for a lifetime, then you need two things: the right coach and the right location.
For this clinic we have brought together kitesurfing world champion Matchu Lopes and Mauritius, the island with the most famous waves for kitesurfing on the planet!
There is simply no better formula for a clinic that will turbo charge your riding and help you to navigate the perfect left-handers of One Eye. Or if you want to up your strapless game, then Matchu can work with you on that as well: he is a world champion in both disciplines…
Matchu will use both land and water based sessions to explain the fundamentals of surf and strapless riding, before taking to the water to work with you to improve your riding. You will ride the iconic Le Morne waves (including One Eye if you wish) as well as visiting other spots around the island.
The focus for this clinic is on working together as well as chilling together.
Giel burst onto the Big Air scene and is now one of the top players in the Big Air Kite League and was on fire for the KOTA last year. Since then he has claimed the first ever Double Megaloop – one of the biggest steps forward in the history of the sport – and he continues to drive the Big Air side of the sport forwards at blistering pace. Giel was also awarded “2022 GKA Rider of the Year” and also won “2022 GKA Move of the Year” award for performing an incredibly stylish S-loop.
Giel has been coaching for over 7 years, he has taught all levels of riding and his incredible passion for the sport shines through whoever he is working with. He loves seeing riders progress and believes that with commitment and hard work anything is achievable!
This day is the official arrival day and you can kite freely in one of the spots. In the evening we will get together for dinner and meet Giel and the other participants. There we will set your goals for the week and explain any further details.
We will start the day with a delicious breakfast and once the wind has started picking up, we will head to one of the many beaches Tarifa has to offer. We will be led by the wind conditions during the week, so you can expect a short journey to find the perfect spot for the day (renting a car for the duration of the clinic is essential, we can help you coordinate with other riders if you would like to team up).. Each day you will have four hours of coaching with Giel, where he will work with your personally on the goals you want to achieve.
You can continue kiting while the sun is up, or perhaps prefer to finish off the day with a cocktail at one of Tarifa’s beach bars. And for dinner, Tarifa has plenty of incredible restaurants to suit every taste.
On Saturday, after breakfast you are free to head to the beach and work on the new moves you’ve picked up over the week, or you can take it easy and relax after the days packed with action.
Departure day. After an awesome week, it’s time to head home. Depending on your departure time, you might be able to squeeze in a last kite session…
