The short lines hype is growing and becoming recognised as a sub-discipline of the Big Air movement – it has even entered as a separate discipline in the last stop of the BAKL tour in Cape Town. For those who want to feel the sensation of a short lines session for the first time, or those who want to make that jaw-dropping mega loop and send the kite super low, we have lined up a special two-day clinic on mastering the art of short lines kiting.
We will be joined by the local young and talented short lines master (and TheKiteMag cover star!) Camdyn Kellett. Over the two days Camdyn will take you through the essential theory and techniques behind riding with short lines before hitting the water in the iconic Blouberg beach.
For this clinic we have set a wind window starting on 26 January to 2 February. Depending on the forecast, we will announce the two dates of coaching closer to the time.
Born and raised in South Africa, Camdyn has been kiting for over 10 years and it didn’t take long for his talent to shine through. The turning point when it was clear that the hobby is turning into a passion and a career came when he pulled a loop on short lines for the first time. Since then Camdyn has been pushing hard, mastering and innovating new tricks on short lines. As well as being a talented young rider, Camdyn is a great coach, eager to share his passion and experience for short line riding
For this two-day clinic, we have set a wind window starting 27 January until 4 February and we will pick the best two days to run the clinic. Based on the forecast, we will announce to all participants the days of the clinic in advance.
We will do two sessions of 4 hours spread over two days. Each session will include theory before we hit the water.
With the iconic Table Mountain in the backdrop, this is where Red Bull King of the Air takes place every year. The ultimate spot for every Big Air rider.
Just an hour away from Cape Town, Langebaan offers a complete change of scenery with its flatter turquoise waters.
